Sophie Labandibar was born in Biarritz in 1982. She started playing the piano at the age of 3 with Ada Labèque. She joined the class of Alain Planès and Emmanuel Strosser at the National Conservatory of Music and Dance in Paris at the age of 14. After further studies in Germany, at the University of the Arts in Essen, she returned to the Paris Conservatory to work on chamber music with Claire Désert, Ami Flammer and Christian Ivaldi.
Laureate of the Meyer Foundation, she began her career in Germany thanks to the Dr Karl Dörken Stiftung foundation, of which she was also the winner, then in the festivals of Prades, La Roque d’Anthéron, Radio France festival in Montpellier, Cellofest in Belgrad, Music festival in the Basque Coast, Musical Spring of Saint Jean de Luz, Music in the heart of the Médoc, etc …
She is now an accompanist at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Lyon, at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional in Aix-en-Provence, and at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional in Avignon.
Her special attention to the art of accompaniment, her ability to share music with other soloists make her a much sought-after partner, not only in recitals, but also in international competitions. This is how she brings her musical and sensitive presence to classes in Geneva, Maxence Larrieu in Nice, Jean-Pierre Rampal in Paris or the prestigious Long-Thibaud violin competition.
Sophie Labandibar has recorded for the Dutch label Challenge and for the German label Telos Music.
