Born in 1961 in Okayama, Japan, he studied composition and accompaniment at the National University of Fine Arts and Music in Tokyo, notably with Yoshio Hachimura and Henriette Puig-Roget. A recipient of a French government scholarship from 1984 to 1987, he was admitted to the CNSM in Paris where he won three first prizes in composition, orchestration, and accompaniment. He studied with Claude Ballif, Paul Méfano, Betsy Jolas, Serge Nigg, Jean Kœrner, and Solange Chiapparin, completing his studies with an advanced composition program.
Since then, he has divided his time between piano performance, teaching, and composition. As a pianist with the Itinéraire Ensemble, he has participated in numerous concerts and recordings.
Since 2013, he has been a chamber music professor at the CNSMDP. Most of his scores are published by Éditions Henry Lemoine, Gérard Billaudot, Alphonse Leduc, and Arpèges.
He was invited as a resident at the Maison Messiaen in Isère in April 2017 for a composition project.
Currently, he is working on a concerto for bassoon and string orchestra and a piece for a large orchestra, intended for the “Les Siècles” orchestra.
